How does a pizza vending machine work?
Inside the machine is a large refrigeration unit with room for 68 pizzas, along with two ovens, which means two customers can have a pizza within four minutes. You pick from the menu at the push of a button, pay by card, and watch on the screen as your pizza is prepared. It comes out sliced into four pieces.

The Jumbo supermarket in Groningen is home to the first, and for now the only, pizza vending machine in the Netherlands. But if Jordi Hillenga of JPA has his way, that won't be the case for long.
He's in talks with NS, the Dutch railway operator, to give train passengers a choice before long, a snack from the vending machine or a freshly made pizza while they wait for their train.
Two pizzas in four minutes
The machine can turn out two fresh pizzas within four minutes. There's a choice of four different pizzas, each 28 cm across, served with a napkin and a peppermint.

From years of trying. The inventor had been in business since the age of eight: selling DVDs outside supermarkets and at flea markets, always with a notebook on him to write ideas down. First he thought up an umbrella vending machine, because it often rains in the Netherlands, but that idea was taken from him by a group of students. The word vending machine stuck, and because pizza is the fastest growing catering product in Europe, one plus one made two.
