A preventive approach to burnout
In these hectic times, more and more people find themselves grinding to a halt. It's a risk anyone runs when they don't pay proper attention to the warning signs. With the help of Repairing Balance, all sorts of mental imbalance can be restored for good. The method can even be used preventively, to head off a burnout before it happens, for instance.
Elly Voskuilen runs Welzijnspraktijk Aandacht in Almere
Elly Voskuilen has had her own practice since 2008, Welzijnspraktijk Aandacht in Almere, the Netherlands.
Here she offers support in restoring mental balance. People can turn to her when they're dealing with burnout, anxiety complaints, anxiety and panic attacks, or depression, but also when they feel unsure of themselves or simply want to work on personal growth. Elly is genuinely enthusiastic about the Repairing Balance method, "You have to think of it as a voyage of discovery. When you come to me, the lid comes off and you begin to uncover what's weighing on you. From there, we search for your true self so you can reconnect with it, and that's how you finally find your balance again."
Repairing Balance was developed by Berry Rijkers
Repairing Balance is a straightforward, effective method developed by Berry Rijkers. It restores equilibrium in cases of mental imbalance such as anxiety and panic attacks, as well as burnout. What makes the method distinctive is that it measures several different areas, including thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and thinking patterns. The underlying connections are then mapped out, making it possible to establish whether there's an imbalance, what exactly that imbalance is, and even at what age it first arose. The method is now practised by a group of coaches across the Netherlands, all working under a Repairing Balance licence.
Elly gives workshops on the method
To introduce more people to Repairing Balance, Elly runs workshops, explaining in an accessible way just what the method has to offer.
For employers and employees
Participants come to Elly by various routes.
Some are referred by the company doctor, while others are referred through the UWV, the Dutch employee insurance agency that handles benefits and helps people back into work. Others get in touch with her themselves.
There are also participants who take a course in consultation with their employer. In some cases, employer and employee split the costs, and sometimes the employer covers the entire course for the employee, out of a genuine wish to invest in the wellbeing of their staff.
