Working together on a circular future
Working together was what it was all about during the first Business Congres Almere, the Dutch business congress organised by the Vereniging Bedrijfskring Almere (VBA), the business association of the city of Almere. 
That goes for businesses among themselves, for government, and for students, who can bring a fresh pair of eyes to the challenges ahead. With the theme "The Future is now," the VBA made clear that real steps need to be taken today.
Inspiration and practice come together
The congress drew a good turnout of entrepreneurs and students, who let themselves be swept along by a line-up of inspiring speakers. It became clear that promising new ideas can emerge from sustainability and collaboration, and that's exactly what's needed, because coming back into balance with our planet matters more and more.
Food for thought
The VBA chose topics that matter for the city, for its businesses, and for the association itself. 
The energetic Ruud Koornstra urged the entrepreneurs in the room to feel proud again, to come out of their shells and give the dreamers a stage. It would be a crying shame, he said, to leave all that knowledge going to waste.
The Dutch astronaut André Kuipers, meanwhile, made it clear how important it is not to wait too long, in your own interest as much as anything, because otherwise you'll miss the boat.
