What exactly is hypnosis?
Nothing other than a concentrated state of consciousness, says hypnotist Marcel Beijer. If you stare out of the window, you are in fact in hypnosis. It works with the distinction between your conscious part, your thinking, and your unconscious part. He draws it as a small dot with a circle around it that is 150 times as large: that is your subconscious, and it has all the power over you.
What is the difference with hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is the best known form, and the word therapy says it all: there is a process to it, with several sessions. Direct hypnosis goes somewhat deeper, without you losing control, but in such a way that your problem can be resolved in one go.
How does a session go?
A session is built up from instructions that the client may follow if he wants to, and he does want to, because he wants to be rid of his problem. Those instructions go further and deeper as they go along. First the tension leaves the body, with proper breathing in from the stomach. The hypnotist helps the client to focus on himself, and anyone who is properly focused on himself goes into hypnosis.
Why no group sessions?
Because the attention is then not right. If several people are sitting in a hall and the hypnotist wants to treat them all at the same time, he cannot really focus on anyone. What he wants is complete focus and the bond with that one client, because then you can help someone and it does some good.
Poor sleep through stress
There are entrepreneurs who are so busy with their company that it costs them their sleep. Poor sleep is not only unpleasant, it can have serious consequences for daily life. Concentration declines, irritation arises more quickly, resistance drops and the result is more stress.
That is not the only danger, however. In the long term a lack of sleep turns out to increase the risk of cardiovascular disease, gastrointestinal disorders and metabolic diseases significantly, among other things. This has emerged from various studies among shift workers, among others. No entrepreneur is waiting for that.
Break the pattern with hypnosis
Fortunately there are various ways of making sure you can sleep well again at night. Even so, it can be difficult to break this pattern on your own once you have been sleeping badly for a longer period. For people who have ended up in such a situation, hypnosis can offer a solution. Under hypnosis the body and the mind can be brought to rest, so that you fall asleep naturally again.
After that the trick is not to fall back into the old pattern.
